BIND Cartridge Reader
The BIND® Cartridge Reader is a true bench top instrument with approximately the same footprint as a benchtop microcentrifuge. This reader is for use with BIND 16-well Biosensor Cartridges. The cartridge platform offers the same application flexibility and benefits of SRU Biosystems’ label-free BIND microplate systems and allows for quantitative measurement of drug-target interactions in a lower throughput, more cost-effictive platform.

Cartridge Features
  • The ULTIMATE in application flexibility
  • Lower throughput, cost-effective solution for label-free assays
  • Powerful user-interface for simple result viewing & data export
  • Identical optics of microplate BIND readers allowing seamless transition to higher throughput BIND Biosensors and Readers

Application Flexibility
The BIND Cartridge Reader is a unique and cost-effective solution for lower throughput, label-free assays with the sophistication of higher-end instrumentation. It was engineered from the ground up with application flexibility in mind, demonstrated through features such as the ability to use it within an incubator. Our Cartridge Reader uses the same optics and software as our higher throughput microplate-based readers, thus offering the same flexibility and high level of assay sensitivity.
  • Ideal for biochemical & cell-based applications
  • Freedom to use low number of cells, including primary cells
  • Kinetic & endpoint measurement
  • Endogenous and recombinant GPCR assay solutions
  • Ion-channel assays, cell adhesion assays & more
GPCR Cell-based Assay
Agonist Titration (Carbachol)

Antagonist Titration (Atropine)

FIGURE 1: Agonist and antagonist dose response of endogenous muscarinic receptor in HEK cells. 2,500 HEK cells were added to collagen coated 16-well Biosensor Cartridges. Cells were activated with various concentration of carbochol (agonist) or incubated in the presence of 20 µM carbachol and various concentrations of atropine (known antagonist). Cell responses were measured following a 30 minute incubation using the BIND Cartridge Reader.
Small Molecule Drug: Target Binding Assay
FIGURE 2: 16-well BIND Biosensor cartridges were coated with a target protein and incubated with various concentrations of a small molecule inhibitor. Peak wavelengths (PWV) of samples were detected on the BIND Cartridge Reader.
Experiment Management System Software (EMS)
SRU Biosystem provides a software package called Experiment Management System (EMS) that handles data acquisition and analysis with a versatile database for result management. EMS provides the user with complete experimental control, comprehensive documentation, real time visualization of data, troubleshooting tools, data export and analysis tools, and secure storage of all data in a database, all through a intuitive graphical user interface. Data can be imported and exported in several file formats.

EMS User Interface

EMS Data Export Wizard
The Cartridge Reader EMS software is identical to that used in SRU’s higher throughput BIND Readers. Should higher throughout needs arise, a seamless transition can be made to microplate-based readers without the need for staff re-training or data migration procedures.
