As an alternative to full laboratory automation, SRU offers a compact and powerful integrated system that mates a BIND® Reader to a Beckman Coulter Biomek® FXp automated liquid handling system. Without the intervention of a robot or human, the Biomek can load biosensor plates on the reader and then dispense compounds from a compound plate while the sample plate is locked in position on the BIND Reader. This configuration reduces the latency between ligand addition and plate reading to under 5 seconds, making it the only label-free detection system capable of catching such rapid cell responses.

Biomek FX Integration

SRU’s automation specialists have developed a completely integrated platform using the Biomek software to control the entire platform. SRU has written dynamic link libraries (DLLs) to extend the Biomek software’s functionality to control the BIND Reader.

The software provided by SRU also includes a custom graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI allows users to easily modify common assay variables at run time without modifying entire methods. Methods to run both agonist and antagonist assays have also been written and are included in the integration package.
